Tata Motors will introduce 3 new electric SUVs in the Indian market next year based on its latest Gen 2 EV architecture
Taking ahead of its electric bandwagon, Tata Motors is working on multiple new EVs for the Indian market. A slew of electric SUVs are in the pipeline, 3 of which will be launched next year. The Indian carmaker will be aggressively targeting the mid-size electric SUV segment in the country. Let’s look at the details of the 3 new mid-size electric SUVs launching in India next year.
1. Tata Harrier EV
The Tata Harrier EV has been in the development phase for a long time now and it has already been showcased as a concept on multiple occasions. The electric derivative of the Harrier is scheduled for a debut next year in India. The Harrier EV will be based on the heavily modified electric-specific version of the current OMEGA-Arc platform.

The SUV is expected to sport a battery pack of 60 kWh, delivering a claimed range of around 500 kilometres. In terms of design, it will be quite familiar to the current Harrier, however, will have some electric-specific elements inside out. It will also get a dual-motor AWD setup as an option.

2. Tata Safari EV
Alongside the Harrier EV, Tata Motors is also actively working on the Safari EV. Expected to debut around the same timeline as the Harrier EV, the test mule of the electrified Safari has been spotted on multiple occasions. In terms of design, the electric SUV will be quite familiar to the conventionally powered Safari along with some electric-specific changes like aero-efficient wheels, blanked-off front grille and EV badging amongst others.

The powertrain will be shared with the Harrier EV and it will also get the AWD (all-wheel-drive) system as an option. As for the launch timeline is concerned, expect the Tata Safari EV to go on sale in the second half of 2025.

3. Tata Sierra EV
Tata Sierra EV was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo in the concept form. The legendary nameplate is set to be revived in a modern avatar with an electrified powertrain. The EV SUV will likely be launched by the end of 2025 in the Indian market and it will also get a conventionally powered ICE version at a later stage.

As per the media reports, the Sierra EV will likely be underpinned by the brand’s latest Acti.EV architecture which is based on the Tata Motors’ Gen 2 EV platform. The powertrain components could be shared with the Harrier EV and Safari EV, however, nothing can be confirmed as of now. The patent images highlighted the production spec design of the Sierra EV and it seems to resemble the concept version.
